Context

As with its initial project, EPOSTL2 builds on the work of the Language Policy Division of the Council of Europe (CEFR and ELP) as well as on the European Profile of the European Union. It meets all the objectives of the third medium-term programme. It contributes to the professional competence of teachers by describing the nature of those competences which teachers strive to acquire. Due to the networking and dissemination module of the project, it is expected to have a powerful impact on language teaching practice and should make a valuable contribution to the cohesion of the educational community. At the heart of the project is the question of quality improvement of language teaching achieved through reflection and dialogue both within teacher education institutions and between them, both at a national and international level.
